Sarkome
Update Sarcoma Research
The outcome for patients with sarcomas is relatively poor compared with many other solid malignant tumors. Understanding sarcomagenesis and sarcoma diseases better and identifying novel targets for precision cancer therapy is the goal of molecular biologist Dr. rer. nat. Priya Chudasama and her team Junior Research Group Precision Sarcoma Research at the German Cancer Research Center (Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum, DKFZ) and National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT), in Heidelberg. The research group is funded by the Emmy Noether Program of the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG) over a period of 6 years. This program gives highly qualified scientists the opportunity to lay groundwork for a path to university professorship by independently leading a junior research group. Postdocs and temporary junior professors in an early phase of their scientific career can also apply. We had a conversation with Dr. Chudasama about her research, sarcoma and networking during the pandemic. She also talked about her current focus on investigating telomere maintenance mechanisms and immunotherapy in sarcoma.
